Tyson <strong>Event</strong>s Center<br />
Located <strong>in</strong> Sioux City, Iowa, the Tyson <strong>Event</strong>s Center<br />
is owned <strong>by</strong> the City of Sioux City <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>corporates<br />
the Gateway Arena as well as the Municipal<br />
Auditorium. The Tyson <strong>Event</strong>s Center was completed<br />
<strong>in</strong> December 2003. The Arena features a U-shaped<br />
seat<strong>in</strong>g bowl with a capacity of approximately 6,100<br />
for basketball, 6,700 for hockey <strong>and</strong> football <strong>and</strong> up to<br />
10,000 for concerts.<br />
The facility hosts two m<strong>in</strong>or league sports tenants, the<br />
Musketeers of the USHL <strong>and</strong> the B<strong>and</strong>its of the UIF.<br />
Together, they hosted 37 events at the Tyson <strong>Event</strong><br />
Center <strong>in</strong> a recent year. In addition, the Center hosted<br />
65 additional non-tenant events, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g concerts,<br />
family shows, motorcycle races, monster truck rallies.<br />
In 2004 <strong>and</strong> 2005, the Center hosted the 7-day NAIA<br />
Division II women’s basketball tournament.<br />
Additionally, the Center hosted the 2005 NAIA<br />
Division II wrestl<strong>in</strong>g tournament. The arena’s rental<br />
rate is the greater of $2,200 versus 10 percent of gross<br />
gate receipts.<br />
