• Idaho is not a major AAU Wrestl<strong>in</strong>g state, as it is primarily served <strong>by</strong> USA Wrestl<strong>in</strong>g<br />

affiliates.<br />

• USA Wrestl<strong>in</strong>g’s season lasts from March through May.<br />

• USA Wrestl<strong>in</strong>g has considered br<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g events to <strong>Coeur</strong> d’Alene <strong>in</strong> the past but the<br />

market lacks an appropriate event facility.<br />

• The organization could potentially br<strong>in</strong>g a m<strong>in</strong>imum of two annual tournaments to a<br />

new <strong>in</strong>door event facility <strong>in</strong> <strong>Coeur</strong> d’Alene, assum<strong>in</strong>g the facility meets their<br />

requirements.<br />

(approximately 2,000 to 2,300 people per day).<br />

• The Western Regional Wrestl<strong>in</strong>g meet is currently held <strong>in</strong> Pocatello every year, but<br />

could rotate to <strong>Coeur</strong> d’Alene.<br />

• Spokane hosted a World Cup event approximately six years ago, an <strong>in</strong>dication that a<br />

national event could aga<strong>in</strong> be hosted <strong>in</strong> the area <strong>in</strong> the future.<br />

• Tournaments typically charge $8 to $12 for admittance <strong>in</strong>to the tournament, which is<br />

reta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>by</strong> the organization organiz<strong>in</strong>g the event.<br />

Pacific Northwest Qualifier (Volleyball)<br />

• Spokane Arena does not offer adequate floor space to accommodate this tournament.<br />

The event utilizes the Spokane Convention Center (14 courts), Eastern Wash<strong>in</strong>gton<br />

University (14 courts) <strong>and</strong> The HUB (9 courts).<br />

• The event occurs over the last two weekends <strong>in</strong> March <strong>and</strong> lasts from Thursday<br />

through Sunday, with some participants <strong>and</strong> spectators stay<strong>in</strong>g through Sunday night.<br />
