Tiene pizarra digital pero huboalgún problema (presumiblemente vinculada con elpolvo, cuando pintaron la escuela) que la ha dejadoinactiva. Aquí hay más caos que en el aula anterior.Tanto que, de repente, aparece una nena del jardín deinfantes que, cada vez que puede, se escapa a la de 1ºgrado porque ella quiere aprender con la computadora.Tiene a algunos de sus hermanos en ese grado yparece sentirse motivada por emplear esa herramientaen esto de poder hacer letras y números.Las actividades que realizan los chicos en este cursoson de lo más variadas. Maira Sosa (7) dice: “Tengoque redondear las cosas que son diferentes. Busco laimagen y le pongo un círculo cuando lo encuentro. Megusta usar la ‘compu’ porque es para estudiar. Y en micasa la usamos todos, somos cuatro. Hago lengua, estudiosumas, problemas, aprendemos los números, yallegamos hasta 120”.A su lado, Nerina Jiménez (6) está buscando imágenesde animales para estudiar. “Pero también me gusta jugara los jueguitos de cocinita, a veces busco cuentitos”,comenta. La máquina también se usa mucho ensu casa: “Mi mamá lee el diario y mi hermana (9) estudia.Mi papá ve videos de cacería de chanchos, perosólo sabe manejar el mouse y los botones. Mi hermanale busca los videos”. Los papás de Nerina se dedican ala actividad rural: la mamá ordeña la leche de un par devacas de su propiedad, y el papá amansa caballos, ademásde criar otros dos terneritos. Es posible que en estafamilia la computadora termine siendo un elementopara ayudar a estos trabajadores rurales a aprender algunascosas nuevas vinculadas con su actividad.Belén (9), alumna de 2º grado, nos muestra orgullosasu netbook. Relata con satisfacción: “Mi mamá me pideque le ayude a buscar cosas en Internet, como recetasy ropa”. I love using my computer to study.And at home, we all use the computer, we are four. I study language,do addition, solve problems and we learn the numbers, we got tonumber 120”.Close to her, Nerina Jiménez (6) is looking for images of animals tostudy. “But I also like to play games related to cooking and sometimesI look for tales”, she comments. The computer is also used a lot inher house: “My mum reads the newspaper and my sisters (9) studies.My dad watches pig hunting videos, but he only uses the mouse andbuttons. My sister looks for videos for him”. Nerina’s parents work inrural activities: the mother milks their own cows and the father breaksin horses and breeds two calves. It is very likely that the computer inthis family ends up being a tool to help these rural workers to learnsome new things related to their activity.Belén, a 2nd grader, proudly shows her netbook. She passionatelytells: “My mum asks me to help her look for things on the internet, likerecipes and clothes”. This little girl has 4 brothers and sisters.Gustavo Fanipa (7) has two older brothers who also have their owncomputer. A su lado, Brian escucha concara triste. “Me robaron la ‘compu’”, responde cuandole preguntamos el motivo de su semblante. Por ahoratiene que pedir prestada otra a un compañero durantela clase.Los papás son actores fundamentales en el procesode inclusión digital, especialmente cuando ellos tambiéncomienzan a ser parte de él. Mónica Giménez(32) es la mamá de cinco chicos que asisten a estaescuela. Está entusiasmada con el uso de la netbookpor parte de los chicos. “Entran a Internet y ven información.Y con los chicos de 1º vemos una páginapara aprender vocales, bajamos videos. Aprendí conlos chicos a usar Internet, ellos me enseñaron. Ya sénavegar y bajar lo que los chicos piden; les ayudo conlas tareas”.Mónica ayuda en la limpieza de la escuela, en servirlesla taza de leche a los chicos. Recibe uno de los planessociales en vigencia de la Provincia. “Tengo queconseguir los materiales. Mi marido hace changas deladrillo, carga tierra. Pero también se pone a estudiarcon los chicos. Se corren unos metros de donde vivimospara tener conexión y ahí hacen las actividades”.Si bien todas las localidades de San Luis estáncubiertas con Wi-Fi, en algunas zonas la recepciónno siempre es pareja. Aunque el objetivo es que laconectividad llegue bien en los hogares, a veces hayinconvenientes. Pero todos van aprendiendo, inclusoa resolver esas faltas cuando suceden, porque tieneninterés en continuar con la adopción e introducciónde la máquina en sus actividades cotidianas.Por supuesto, también hay otras motivaciones. Mónicano finalizó sus estudios. “Quedé en 5º grado yla verdad es que me gustaría terminar la primaria.Cuando era chica quería ser maestra jardinera perono pude terminar la escuela porque mi mamá falleció.Y quisiera terminar porque me gustaría trabajar| 25tens with a sad look on his face. “Somebody stole my netbook” he answerswhen we asked him the reason why he is so sad. Meanwhile, hehas to borrow a computer from a classmate during the class.Parents have a significant role in the process of digital inclusion, especiallywhen they also start to be part of it. Mónica Giménez (32) isthe mother of five children who go to this school. She is enthusiasticabout children’s use of the netbook. “They go online and look forinformation.1st graders use a web page to learn vowels and downloadvideos. I learnt to use internet with the children, they taught me.I can now surf the net and download what the children ask for; I canhelp them with their homework”.Mónica helps with the cleaning at school, and she also prepares thecup of milk for children. She is beneficiary of one of the provincial socialplans. “I have to look for materials. My husband does odd jobs,loading bricks and earth. He also helps the kids to study. They have tomove some steps from where we live to get the connection and theydo their activities there”. Although all towns have wi-fi connection, insome areas reception is not even. Even though the goal is to provideconnection to every home, sometimes there are problems. But theyall learn, even to solve this kind of failures when they happen becausethey are interested in continuing adopting and introducing the computerin their daily activities.There also other motivations, of course. Mónica was able to finishschool. “I just got to 5th grade and truth be told, I would like to at leastfinish primary school. When I was little I wanted to be a kindergartenteacher, but I could not finish school because my mother died. AndI would like to finish so that I could work in a factory. Now, with thecomputer at home, I will learn for sure”, she confesses, being encouragedby what she sees in her kids and at school. She is so enthusiasticthat she is more concerned about what she can achieve than in whatshe could get from the State as a social assistance.Out of the corner of her eyes, Alejandra Muñoz, another mother who
