La pequeña tiene otros cuatro hermanos.24 |uniforms, in the next room, the 1st and 2nd grade classroom, MariaEster teaches her lesson with computers. She also has a digital boardin her classroom, but something happened, probably something relatedto the dust raised when the school was painted, and it is not workingat the moment. There is more chaos here than in the previousclassroom. It is so chaotic that all of a sudden a little girl from kindergartenshows up in the 1st graders classroom because she wants tolearn with the computer. Some of her brothers are in that classroomand she seems to be very eager to use this tool and to be able to writeletters and numbers.Children in this course carry out the most diverse tasks. Maira Sosa(7) claims: “I have to round up things that are different. I look for animage and circle it when I find it. I love using my computer to study. And at home, we all use the computer, we are four. I study language,do addition, solve problems and we learn the numbers, we got tonumber 120”.Close to her, Nerina Jiménez (6) is looking for images of animals tostudy. “But I also like to play games related to cooking and sometimesI look for tales”, she comments. The computer is also used a lot inher house: “My mum reads the newspaper and my sisters (9) studies. My dad watches pig hunting videos, but he only uses the mouse andbuttons. My sister looks for videos for him”. Nerina’s parents work inrural activities: the mother milks their own cows and the father breaksin horses and breeds two calves. It is very likely that the computer inthis family ends up being a tool to help these rural workers to learnsome new things related to their activity.Belén, a 2nd grader, proudly shows her netbook. She passionatelytells: “My mum asks me to help her look for things on the internet, likerecipes and clothes”. This little girl has 4 brothers and sisters.Gustavo Fanipa (7) has two older brothers who also have their owncomputer. So as to play with them, he downloads from the internetDonald Duck’s games, his favorite character. Close to him, Brian lis-
