Teruel.Hemos estudiado un grupo de 269 pacientes, en edadescomprendidas entre 13 y 83 años, 134 hombres y 135mu jeres. Todos presentaban un cuadro clínico de insuficienciavertebrobasilar, según criterios generalmente admitidos(G. Paal. Basados en que 64de estos enfermos mostraron patología funcional en la exploraciónDoppler de troncos supraaórticos solamente enlas arterias vertebrales, 136 la presentaban tanto en las arteriasvertebrales como en las carótidas internas extracranealesy en los 69 enfermos restantes los déficit funcionalesdetectados por Doppler se pusieron de manif iestosolamente en el sistema carotídeo, deducimos que, al menosen estos últimos pacientes, debe de existir un mecanismode robo de f lu jo sanguíneo intracraneal, que derivesangre desde el territor¡o vertebrobasilar, aparentementesano, hacia el territorio dependiente del riego carotídeo,que es el que había mostrado un déficit funcional en susarterias de aporte a estas estructuras. Hospilal de Girona.Girona.Con la finalidad de determinar precozmente un perfilde riesgo de mortalidad y morbilidad en el infarto cerebral,se estudiaron prospectivamente 100 pacientes durantelas primeras I horas de la isquemia. Las variables analizadasfueron: edad y sexo; tabaquismo, enolismo; existenciade hipertensión, diabetes, claudicación intermitente,cardiopatía isquémica, f ibrilación auricular y AIT previos;diagnóstico patológico (trombosis o embolia); territoriovascular (carotídeo o vertebrobasilar); puntuación de la EscalaCanadiense (EC); tensión arterial sistólica y diastólica,glucemia; datos de la TC craneal (signos de infarto reciente,volumen del infarto, efecto de masa, presencia deinfartos cerebrales antiguos); intervalo inicio de la isquemia-iclusiónen el estudio.Durante un período de control de 3 meses fallecieron2-1 casos.
