SUMMARY<br />

This is a retrospective study of 427 observations about congenital heart disease in<br />

the pediatric department of the CHU Hassan II of Fez, between January 2007 and<br />

December 2009.<br />

Through this hospital series, we tried to analyze the epidemiology and aetiologies<br />

of congenital heart disease in our department.<br />

Thus, we studied the anamnestic, clinical and echocardiographic for each patient.<br />

The mean age of our patients is 39 months with extremes between 1day and 16<br />

Most patients are from the region of Fez-Boulemane, with low socioeconomic<br />

The shunts left-right are 70.60% of all malformative congenital heart diseases and<br />

dominated by ventricular septal defect by 134 cases (35.17%), atrial septal defect by 63<br />

cases (16.53%), and patent ductus arteriosis by 37 cases (9.71%).<br />

Cyanogen heart diseases are 16, 27% and dominated by transposition of great<br />

arteries by 22 cases (5.77%), followed by tetralogy of Fallot by 19 cases (4.98%).<br />

The obstructive heart diseases are 13.12% and dominated by pulmonic stenosis by<br />

30 cases (7.87%).<br />

Myocardiopathy is 5.15% of all congenital heart disease, rythm disorders 4.68%<br />

and vasculopathy 0.93%.<br />

The causative factors are represented by the trisomy 21; it is the most common<br />

polymalfomatif syndrome in this series partnering with ventricular septal defect in 22<br />

cases and atrioventricular canal defect in 20 cases, the consanguinity 109 cases<br />

(25.52%), the prematurity 7 cases (1.63%).<br />
