Nous fabriquons les mémoires surlesquelles nos futurs s’érigeront…Fabrice LambertInfos +www.experienceharmaat.comFabrice LambertBorn in 1974 in Grenoble, Fabrice Lamberttrained at the National Regional Conservatory(CNR) in Grenoble then at the National Centrefor Contemporary Dance (CNDC) / L’Esquissein Angers. He founded L’Expérience harmaat in1996. This facility is intended as a crossroads /interchange for artists of the discipline, a placefor crossovers and experiments. In parallel to hiswork with the company, he is part of the KubilaïKhan Investigations group; has joined CarolynCarlson’s company; and has collaborated withCatherine Diverrès.In each of his pieces, choreographer and performerFabrice Lambert plays on proximity to anddistance from the body, using ingenious stagedevices that he is constantly renewing. His focusis the body and its environment.A for Abstraction / 2005 creationThe blank canvas. A succession of lights andblack create a rhythm between / during whichthe body plays with the spectator’s eye. Whenwords slip away, what are we to think? Back tothe blank canvas: slowly, lines then forms arrangethemselves and create imaginative realms, even fantasies. And between these brushstrokes, love blurs...Gravity / 2007 creationGravité is an installation and a choreographicwork for a body on a 5 x 5 metre surface ofwater, through which light and sound passconstantly to reveal the slightest movements:body and water are continuously attuned andmerge, thanks to a process that produces agraphic image but without a video projection. The extreme precision of the light beam onthe water causes the water to reverberate on awhite screen behind it. At first the body seemsto be floating on the screen; but then constructsits stances, making the “matter” of the waterapparent. The movement of the water revealsthe body’s perpetual adjustments to gravity, likea series of moving pictures. These are two of an ensemble of 26 short piecestitled L’Abécédaire (ou les plaisirs de l’entraînementrégulier du spectateur), which exploremodes of human perception in a playful yetquasi-scientific way.How can the past shape thefuture?Every being that is born today carries inits cells the ever-lengthening memory of ourhistory and humanity. We work in strata, constructed by sedimentationand accumulation, like a set of stacked plateauxthrough we move vertically in order to live. The first strata recall the epoch when our micro-organismswere emerging from the water; others, whenwe were walking on all fours; others still, when weenjoyed massacres and pleasure… Every period ofour history is thus written and inscribed in our bodies, forming the memories from which we are built. That is why each present is extraordinary, ambitiousand dangerous, for it is the future of each of us.We manufacture memories on which our futures willbe built...Fabrice LambertExtra info:www.experienceharmaat.com75
