keeping to a concrete policy of quality with enormous
emphasis on food safety.
What are your best selling items?
Our lead items are the fruit and vegetables from
domestic producers chosen by growing district and
put on sale as part of the assortments we think best
meet the demands of customers who are looking for
the right quality-to-price ratio.
Do you focus more on quality or on price?
Since prices in today’s market keep declining,
engaging in any kind of price war would make
sense only if the selective factors regarding quality
are there to back it up. In other words, it’s the
shopper who first of all has the power to decide
whether the price is right and who is willing neither
to sacrifice quality nor to lower expectations since
hard-earned money is about to be sent even if he
or she is dealing with what we might call “nextbest”
items. It goes without saying that whatever
one buys, it has to be the best item at the given
moment at the best price. The best produce buyer
is the shopper with the best professional eye.
That’s how you can tell what demands your facing
and how to meet them to fulfil the expectations of
your customers.
How does your company compare to the competition?
If we look at our profile in the domestic market, our
position is excellent since we’ve put our energy into
working closely with producers who are willing to let
themselves be guided by current and emerging consumer
demands. This gives us an edge every day in
prices that are well matched to the items we sell and
the attraction our stock assortment holds for shoppers.
What’s your view of the EU’s proposed directive
about the labelling of genetically modified foods?
I think it’s a must for consumers to have all the information
they need to make their choices. It’s really a
right and everyone should fall in line with it. Indeed,
it’s something that its goes hand in hand with increasing
consumer awareness that fruit and vegetables
contribute a lot towards our well-being and in protecting
our health.
What about your near-term plans and targets?
Well, right now our plans call for expanding the range
of fruit and vegetable items in our supply-chain
assortment. It’s part of our strong commitment to our
producers and consumers, with Dico underwriting the
guarantee for all parties concerned.
In tempi in cui l’elemento prezzo all’origine è in continua
miglior tecnico in assoluto.
