Reflections on the Making of ‚New’ Mankind – The Sacrifice
Abstract. The social life in post-communist societies often reveals
strong reminiscences of the past. Thus, when under communism, the people
were manipulated to believe that their supreme scope in life was the sacrifice
for the best of all of them, no critical judgment allowed. The direction to be
followed was indicated by the ruling party and the ‘comrades’ leaders. Now,
it is surprising that, even decades after the falling of communism, a
significant part of the individuals educated and grown-up in the middle of
totalitarian régimes, still nurture nostalgic feelings for the years when they
had to ‘give their best’ for the progress of society (i.e. to perform the
sacrificial behavior in favor of the red bourgeoisie manipulating them). This
strange contradiction still makes the subject of many debates as, for instance,
is discussed in the following article.

Una din temele favorite ale discursului politic în epoca
„socialismului multilateral dezvoltat” din România era aceea a făuririi
„omului nou” (o idee cu evidentă tentă utopică), sursă şi garant al
edificării cu succes pe tărâm autohton a proiectului celei mai bune şi
mai drepte orânduiri sociale pe care a cunoscut-o vreodată umanitatea.
Asumarea acestei misiuni extraordinare era, însă, minată de tot
felul de dificultăţi şi contradicţii fundamentale, pe care diriguitorii
comunişti le minimalizau în discursuri triumfaliste menite să
însufleţească masele de oameni ai muncii spre a se „înnoi”, aşa cum le
cereau documentele de partid.
