วิถีของอาคารใหม่ - เรื่องเล่าในอาคาร
คุณเต๋าพบข้อมูลว่า อาคารหลังนี้นั้นถูกสร้าง
มาตั้งแต่พ.ศ. 2431 (ก่อนสงครามโลกครั้งที่2)​
สไตล์ของอาคารจึงมีความร่วมสมัยทั้งการ
เป็นอาคารเรือนไม้ที่สร้างโดยสล่าไม้ชาวพม่า
และไทยใหญ่ ที่สะท้อนมาจากทรงหลังคา​
จั่วซ้อนชั้น และมีจั่วรองเล่นระดับ รวมไปถึง
อิทธิพลจากสถาปัตยกรรมแบบตะวันตกที่
ปรากฏผ่านการประดับตกแต่งแผ่นไม้ที่มี
ลวดลายฉลุทั้งในคิ้วหลังคาและบัวผนัง คุณเต๋า​
ได้รับข้อเสนอแนะจากอาจารย์จุลทัศน์​
กิติบุตร ศิลปินแห่งชาติสาขาสถาปัตยกรรม
ร่วมสมัย และในฐานะญาติทางฝั่งคุณยาย
ของคุณเต๋า ได้กล่าวถึงอาคารหลังนี้ว่า ความ
ทรงจําของอาคารนั้นปรากฏผ่านผนังเก่า​
ร่องรอยต่างๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นกับตัวอาคาร สิ่งเหล่านี้​
คือคุณค่าของอาคารเก่าที่ทําขึ้นไม่ได้ มันเป็น
ชีวิตและความทรงจําของอาคารที่ควรบันทึกไว้​
ซึ่งทําให้คุณเต๋าเก็บร่องรอยของสีอาคาร ผนัง
อาคาร แนวโครงคร่าวไม้เก่า ที่สะท้อนความเก่า​
ของอาคาร โดยไม่ได้ทําให้อาคารดูเนี้ยบ​
และคลีนเหมือนอย่างอาคารใหม่อย่างสิ้นเชิง
โครงสร้างของอาคารนี้ เป็นโครงสร้างปูน
ผสมไม้ โดยที่มีโครงสร้างหลักเป็นกําแพง​
รับนํ้ำหนักประกอบกับโครงสร้างเสาคานไม้สัก
ภายในตัวอาคาร ครั้งเมื่อคุณเต๋าเปิดอาคาร
เพื่อการปรับปรุง ผมว่ามีเสาไม้ 3 ต้นที่ถูก
ปลวกกินจนหมดสภาพความแข็งแรง จึงต้อง
พยุงอาคารแล้วนําเสาไม้ใหม่มาแทน ยิ่งไป
กว่านั้นแนวคานไม้ที่รับนํ้ำหนักพื้นชั้น 2​
บางส่วนบุพังและบวมนํ้ำจากความชื้นเพราะ
หลังคาอาคารได้รั่วมาก่อน ทําให้เกิดการเสริม​
คานเหล็กเพื่อพยุงพื้นที่ชั ้น 2 ด้วยความงาม
ของการวางไม้แต่งท้องคานที่เป็นงานสล่าพม่า​
แต่เดิม ทําให้การปรับปรุงอาคารหลังนี้เป็น​
ไปตามความงามขององค์ประกอบของโครงสร้าง​
เดิมที ่ปรากฏ
started after she graduated from
Chulalongkorn University and returned
to Chiang Mai with her husband. Together
they opened their local business at
Kitipanit called the ‘Dara Clinic’. The
business ceased operating in 1966 and
the couple rented-out the space at the
front of the building to the Sin Gee Nguan
Bookshop (while the rest of the building
remained closed). Quietly accumulating
inside was a collection of antiques and
memorabilia spanning a 54-year period to
date. In 2019, Ingkutanon reopened the
building to find a huge amount of
collectibles that would soon be used to
document the history of the building.
The number of collected objects is so
great that even to this day, Ingkutanon
has not yet been able to look through
them all.
A Building and Its Stories
Ingkutanon found out that the building
was constructed in 1888 (prior to the
First World War). This might help explain
the contemporary flair of the building’s
architecture. The wooden structure
was built by Burmese and Thai Yai salas
(skilled builders). Its details show a
layered gable roof and a secondary
gable that adds dimensional levels to
the overall aesthetics of the building.
The influence of Western architecture
can be seen in the carved ornamental
wooden-panels of the roof’s skirting
and cornices. Ingkutanon has been given
some valuable advice from Chulathat
Kitibutr, the National Artist in Contemporary
Architecture (who just so happens to be
a relative of his grandmother!). Kitibutr
