Die berühmtestenMarken sind Toyota, Volkswagen, Fiat, Mercedes.posted on Friday, December 9th, 2011Fiat 126pby Tomasz KOZIEŁ (1995), 8LO Kraków/PolandFiat 126p was produced from 1973 in Bielsko-Biała and Tychy. In Germany it was known as “Bambino” and inSlovenia as “Bolha” (“Flea”) or Pici-Poki(“slowly and loudly”). It had a simple construction , that’s why it wasinexpensive. It was possible to pay for it in installments. Overtime it became available to many Polish families ,however people needed to wait a few years before they got a voucher for it.It was called “Maluch” because it was incrediblysmall. Although it was intended for four people, inthe back seat a small child could sit , or you couldput the shopping there. Larger or thicker people hadquite a problem to find enough room even in thefront seat. The main advantage of “Maluch ” wasthat the driver could wipe all windows (including therear one) by a simple cloth, not even moving fromtheir place. It was very important , because windowswere steamed up constantly in that car. Although the trunk was at thfront and had the capacity of only 100liters, many Poles were driving this car all over Europe. Tents, mattresses, blankets, clothes for two weeks, twochildren and a dog – it was all housed in a “Maluch”. A campsite holiday in Greece or Bulgaria was not aproblem. By the way, you could also attach the roof rack. The engine was placed in the rear of the car. Theengine capacity was 0.6 liters, the power of 23 hp and the maximum combustion of 6 liters per 100 km. With theweight of 600 kg , we can see how little fuel it used. It could be driven for 150 thousand kilometers without anyrepairs. Fiat 126p unfortunately only had within the two doors. Everything inthe car reach of the passengerdriver, even the door handles. ”Maluch” was produced until year 2000. Even today, this car has its fans.Compared to today’s cars, “Maluch” was very primitive. Modern cars are very well equipped. They have airconditioning, computers, central locking, electric windows and even heated seats, which are very convenient.Modern cars are safer, have brakes, ABS and ESR and parking sensors. They also differ from the Fiat design.Current forms and modern engines use less fuel. They can also develop a higher speed. When you move back tothe seventies , what was the most popular in your country ? (What did it look like?)posted on Wednesday, May 16th, 2012by Lena GIESSWEIN (1995), BORG Krems/AustriaMay 19th, 2012 at 2:32 pmI really like your article, it´s interesting to see how much car industry has improved until today. Although thecars today have a lot more comfort, there are still some people who drive those old cars because they haveachieved cult status and look quite cute. In Austria, there were also some little cars that were the most popularones, such as the Renault R5 or the VW Käfer. Tese cars were a little bit like your Fiat: cheap, small but notreally comfortable. The VW Golf was also invented in the 1970ies and it is still getting improved and produceduntil today. BMW, VW and Mercedes invented some limousines since some people had enough money to affordone of those bigger cars then. When the fuel-prices became more expensive because of the crisis in 1973, thegovernment ordered one car-free day per week.n° 9/2013, page 69
