gradient feather lets you fade the selection from
opaque to transparent.
• Inner Shadow adds a shadow
that falls just inside the edges of
the object’s content, giving the
object a recessed appearance.
• Outer Glow and Inner Glow add
glows that emanate from the outside
and inside edges of an object.
• Bevel And Emboss adds inner
highlights and shadows that create
a three-dimensional relief effect.
• Satin adds interior shading that
creates a satin-like finish.
• Basic Feather softens the outer
edge of an object by fading
from opaque to transparent.
You can specify the distance
over which the object will fade
to transparent, as well as add
noise to feathered areas. You
also have three choices—Sharp,
Rounded, and Diffused—for
applying feathering to corners.
• Directional Feather lets you
enhance feathering by customizing
the feather angle and the
amount of feathering on each side.
• Gradient Feather fades an object
into the background by applying
a mask that contains a gradient.
You can apply a linear or radial
gradient, adjust the rate of change
across the gradient, and edit the
angle of a linear gradient, all
within InDesign itself.
