Data Key Fields
Simulator uses certain fields to identify the specific object being described. These fields are called key
fields. For example, the key field for BUS objects is BusNum, because a bus can be identified uniquely
by its number. The key fields for GEN objects are BusNum and GenID. To properly identify each
object, the object’s key fields must be present. They can appear in any order in the list_of_fields
(i.e. they need not be the first fields listed in list_of_fields). As long as the key fields are present,
Simulator can identify the specific object. By going to the Auxiliary Files ribbon group on the Window
ribbon tab and choosing Export Case Object Fields you will obtain a list of fields available for each
object type. In this output, the key fields will appear with asterisks *.
