The AMC-4 cores appear dominated by well mixed AMOCO oil throughout<br />

the 0-20 cm depths. Lesser amounts of pyrogenic PAH vis-a-vis the<br />

Aber and marsh sediments are due to the sandy nature of the AMC-4<br />

samples. A new large input of oil is seen in August 1979 resulting in<br />

some down-core concentration variation.<br />

Chemical descriptions of the "control" site cores are shown in<br />

Figure 3.63. Note that non-petroleum PAH are widely observed in these<br />

sediments and that non-AMOCO CADIZ-impacted sediments contain<br />

50-300 ppm of chronic hydrocarbon pollutants.<br />
