Notes: The published versions follow this draft closely; correspondence<br />
in texts can be seen paragraph by paragraph. Additions, insertions,<br />
<strong>and</strong> corrections in published texts consist mostly of<br />
words <strong>and</strong> phrases, although a few passages were also added, e.g.,<br />
the "Tap. Tap. Tap." of the "unseeing stripling," piano tuner.<br />
Since the MS. consists of only the last half of the "Sirens" episode<br />
(pages numbered 21-33), it can be assumed th<strong>at</strong> another MS. of the<br />
first half of the episode existed (pages numbered 1-20).<br />
MS. begins, "Sang 'Twas Rank <strong>and</strong> Fame. Mr Bloom listened<br />
while Richie Goulding told him, Mr Bloom, about of the night ..."<br />
MS. ends on p. 33, ". . . Let my epitaph be written. Kraaaa. I<br />
have. Pprrpfrrppffff. Done."<br />
