PARALECTOTYPE A.B.T.SMITH 2002” (red<br />

label, handwritten and typeface). Ohaus<br />

(1904b) had seven specimens in the type series<br />

for P. flavoscutellata, so all types are accounted<br />

for. Type locality: Cochabamba, Bolivia.<br />

DESCRIPTION. Male (n=7). Length 23.2-<br />

23.8 mm, width 11.9-12.8 mm. Color olive<br />

green; scutellum yellow; elytral interval 3, 5<br />

with yellow, longitudinal stripe; pronotum<br />

and elytron with yellow margin. Body ovate,<br />

convex. Head: Dorsal surface glabrous. Frons<br />

rugopunctate, clypeus rugose, punctures moderate.<br />

Frons not depressed. Frontoclypeal suture<br />

complete. Clypeal apex rounded. Eyes<br />

separated by approximately 3.8 transverse<br />

eye-widths. Labrum densely punctate, with<br />

moderately large, setose punctures, setae<br />

tawny. Apex <strong>of</strong> labrum with triangular, medial<br />

tooth, apex <strong>of</strong> tooth overlapping apex <strong>of</strong><br />

mentum. Mandibular scissorial region with 2<br />

teeth, molar region with strong lamellae.<br />

Maxilla with 3 teeth, 2 inner teeth bifurcate.<br />

Mentum apical tooth curved into oral cavity.<br />

Antenna 10-segmented; club slightly shorter<br />

than other segments combined, slightly<br />

longer than length <strong>of</strong> frons. Pronotum: Surface<br />

glabrous, densely punctate, with small<br />

and moderate punctures. Marginal bead weak<br />

laterally, absent elsewhere. Elytron: Surface<br />

glabrous; longitudinal striae weakly impressed,<br />

punctate; punctures moderate with<br />

dark coloration; intervals moderately punctate,<br />

punctures small. Suture apically angled<br />

or with weak nub. Pygidium: Width approximately<br />

2.1 times length medially. Surface convex,<br />

moderately punctate; punctures<br />

moderately large, setose; setae short, tawny.<br />

Venter: Thorax densely setose, setae cream<br />

colored. Mesothoracic process moderately produced,<br />

projecting anteriorly to procoxa; shape<br />

conical-elongate; ventrally flattened. Abdomen<br />

sparsely setose, setae cream colored. Apical<br />

spiracles not extruding. Legs: Protibia<br />

with 3 teeth in apical half; apical 2 teeth<br />

subequal in size, third tooth short (sometimes<br />

obsolete). Mesotibia and metatibia widest<br />

medially. Protarsomeres 2-4 wider than long,<br />

cup-shaped. Protarsomere 3-4 with internoapical<br />

stridulatory ridge. Protarsomere 5<br />

with internomedial, stridulatory patch.<br />

Mesotarsomere and metatarsomere 5 without<br />

internobasal tooth. Unguitractor plate cylindrical;<br />

with 1 apical, 1 subapical seta. Modified<br />

protarsal claw with length greater than<br />

protarsomere 5, thickened and elongate when<br />

compared with other claw, laterally flattened,<br />

apex unevenly bifurcate. Modified mesotarsal<br />

and metatarsal claws elongated with ventral<br />

tooth, not thickened. Male Genitalia: Phallobase<br />

approximately 1.2 times longer than length <strong>of</strong><br />

parameres. Parameres with apex rounded.<br />

Female: unknown.
