length slightly shorter than protarsomere 5,<br />

thickened and elongate when compared with<br />

other claw, diagonally flattened, apex unevenly<br />

bifurcate. Modified mesotarsal claw<br />

thickened, elongate when compared with<br />

other claw, dorsoventrally flattened, apex unevenly<br />

bifurcate. Modified metatarsal claw<br />

elongate, with ventral tooth, not thickened.<br />

Male Genitalia: Parameres approximately 1.4<br />

times longer than length <strong>of</strong> phallobase.<br />

Parameres with apex rounded, slightly dorsoventrally<br />

flattened, weakly expanded.<br />

Female (n=9). Length 21.7-26.4 mm,<br />

width 13.3-15.3 mm. As male except in the<br />

following respects. Legs: Protarsomere 4<br />

without internoapical stridulatory ridge.<br />

Protarsomere 5 without internal tooth. Modified<br />

protarsal and mesotarsal claw with ventral<br />

tooth, not thickened.<br />

DIAGNOSIS. This species is distinguished<br />

from all other species in the genus Platycoelia<br />

by the following combination <strong>of</strong> characters:<br />

labrum with a broad, triangular apical tooth<br />

strongly overlapping mentum; antenna 9-segmented;<br />

elytral striae 3 and 5 with light green<br />

coloration; mesothoracic process conical;<br />

protibia with 1 prominent tooth; protibial apical<br />

tooth acuminate; protarsomere 5 with an<br />

internoapical stridulatory tooth; protarsal<br />

claw diagonally flattened; modified mesotarsal<br />

claw with the apex bifurcate, dorsoventrally<br />

flattened; apex <strong>of</strong> paramere distinctly<br />

expanded.<br />

DISTRIBUTION (Fig. 42). Eastern slope <strong>of</strong><br />

the Andes Mountains from central Colombia<br />

to central Ecuador.<br />
