lines on striae 3 and 5; elytron with<br />

yellow patches basolaterally; elytral apices<br />

not capable <strong>of</strong> completely covering the pygidium;<br />

apex <strong>of</strong> the elytral suture without an<br />

acute spine; metasternum and abdominal<br />

sternites green or yellow; mesothoracic process<br />

projecting apically to the procoxa; apical<br />

abdominal spiracle strongly protuberant;<br />

mesotarsomere 5 and metatarsomere 5 without<br />

an internal tooth; parameres with the<br />

apex rounded, not expanded.<br />

One female paralectotype at MNHN labeled<br />

PARALECTOTYPE A.B.T.SMITH 2001” (yellow<br />

label, handwritten and typeface). Ohaus<br />

(1904b) indicated that there was more than<br />

one male labeled “Colombia” in the Rothschild<br />

collection. These specimens are not in the<br />

BMNH or MNHN. The existence and location<br />

<strong>of</strong> additional remaining paralectotypes are<br />

unknown. Type locality: Popayán, Cauca, Colombia.<br />

DESCRIPTION. Male (n=3). Length 17.8-<br />

21.1 mm, width 11.0-11.9 mm. Color <strong>of</strong> dorsal<br />

surface olive green to lime green (sometimes<br />

darkened to brownish-green); elytron with 6-<br />

7 thick, yellow, longitudinal stripes; head,<br />

pronotum, and elytron with yellow margins;<br />

pronotum medially with thick, longitudinal<br />

stripe; scutellum yellow. Ventral surface yellow<br />

to greenish-yellow with black metasternum,<br />

abdominal sternites (at least medially).<br />

Body ovate, convex. Head: Dorsal surface glabrous.<br />

Frons and clypeus moderately to<br />

densely punctate, punctures moderate. Frons<br />

not depressed. Frontoclypeal suture complete.<br />

Clypeal apex broadly rounded. Eyes separated<br />

by approximately 6.2 transverse eyewidths.<br />

Labrum densely punctate, with<br />

moderately large, setose punctures, setae<br />

tawny. Apex <strong>of</strong> labrum with small, triangular,<br />

medial tooth, apex <strong>of</strong> tooth weakly overlapping<br />

apex <strong>of</strong> mentum. Mandibular scissorial<br />

region with 1 tooth, molar region with strong<br />

lamellae. Maxilla with 3 cup-shaped teeth.<br />

Mentum with apicomedial notch or small<br />

tooth. Antenna 9-segmented; club slightly<br />

shorter than other segments combined,<br />

slightly shorter than length <strong>of</strong> frons.<br />

Pronotum: Surface glabrous, sparsely punctate,<br />

with small and moderate punctures.<br />

Marginal bead weak laterally, absent elsewhere.<br />

Elytron: Surface glabrous; longitudinal<br />

striae impressed, punctate; punctures<br />

moderate; intervals impunctate. Suture<br />

apically with acute spine. Pygidium: Width<br />

approximately 1.9 times length medially. Surface<br />

weakly convex, densely punctate; punctures<br />

moderately large to moderate, setose
