elytral apices not capable <strong>of</strong> completely<br />

covering the pygidium; apex <strong>of</strong> the elytral suture<br />

without an acute spine; metasternum<br />

with a dark medial patch; abdominal sternites<br />

green to yellow; mesothoracic process projecting<br />

apically past mesocoxa; apical<br />

abdominal spiracle strongly protuberant;<br />

mesotarsomere 5 and metatarsomere 5 without<br />

an internal tooth; parameres with the<br />

apex rounded, not expanded.<br />

DISTRIBUTION (Fig. 71). Occurs in the<br />

Andes Mountains <strong>of</strong> central and southern Ecuador.<br />

BIOLOGY. Ohaus (1908, 1909a) recorded observations<br />

<strong>of</strong> P. gaujoni larvae from Loja, Ecuador.<br />

He stated that the larvae were found<br />

under fallen logs and that they feed on the<br />

organic matter in the soil.
