DIAGNOSIS. This species is distinguished<br />

from all other species in the genus Platycoelia<br />

by the following combination <strong>of</strong> characters:<br />

frontoclypeal suture complete; labrum with a<br />

well-developed, truncate apical tooth strongly<br />

overlapping the mentum; mentum with a distinct<br />

tooth curved into the oral cavity; antenna<br />

10-segmented; antennal club shorter in<br />

length than other segments combined, shorter<br />

than clypeal length; elytron with a distinct<br />

yellow suture; elytral apices not capable <strong>of</strong><br />

completely covering the pygidium; protibia in<br />

males with 2 prominent teeth; protibial spur<br />

noticeably shorter than the adjacent tibial<br />

apex; mesotarsomere 4 and metatarsomere 4<br />

in males without an apical stridulatory ridge;<br />

protarsomere 5 in males with an internal<br />

stridulatory patch, without an internal tooth;<br />

mesotarsomere 5 and metatarsomere 5 with<br />

an internobasal tooth; parameres with the<br />

apex dorsoventrally flattened, expanded.<br />

DISTRIBUTION (Fig. 52). Northern Perú to<br />

central Bolivia in the puno and yungas regions<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Andes Mountains.<br />
