TYPE SPECIMENS. Platycoelia occidentalis<br />
Ohaus lectotype male at ZMHB labeled a) “R.<br />
Dagua, Colombia W. Rosenberg” (typeface), b)<br />
“Typus!” (red label, typeface), c) “Pl.<br />
occidentalis Ohaus” (red label, handwritten),<br />
d) “PLATYCOELIA OCCIDENTALIS<br />

(red label, handwritten and typeface). Lectotype<br />
here designated. See Methods and<br />
Materials section for a statement <strong>of</strong> taxonomic<br />
purpose. Two male and one female<br />
paralectotypes at ZMHB bearing labels similar<br />
to the lectotype and my yellow paralectotype<br />
label. The existence and location <strong>of</strong><br />
other specimens from Ohaus’ original type<br />
series are unknown. Type locality: Río Dagua,<br />
Valle del Cauca, Colombia.<br />
DESCRIPTION. Male (n=16). Length 20.9-<br />
24.2 mm, width 13.5-14.9 mm. Color light<br />
green with thick yellow marginal band along<br />
basal half <strong>of</strong> elytral interval 2, lateral margin<br />
<strong>of</strong> elytron, medial base <strong>of</strong> elytron; yellow tarsi,<br />
protibia, mesothoracic process, head margins;<br />
weak, thin, longitudinal bands along elytral<br />
striae 1-6 (sometimes not visible). Body ovate,<br />
strongly convex. Head: Dorsal surface glabrous.<br />
Frons sparsely punctate, clypeus<br />
densely punctate, punctures moderate. Frons<br />
not depressed. Frontoclypeal suture complete.<br />
Clypeal apex broadly rounded. Eyes separated<br />
by approximately 4.0 transverse eyewidths.<br />
Labrum sparsely punctate, with<br />
moderately large, setose punctures, setae<br />
tawny. Apex <strong>of</strong> labrum with triangular, medial<br />
tooth; apex <strong>of</strong> tooth weakly truncate, extending<br />
past apex <strong>of</strong> mentum. Mandibular
