adjacent to the margins; elytron without distinct,<br />

yellow, longitudinal lines; elytral apices<br />

not capable <strong>of</strong> completely covering the pygidium;<br />

apex <strong>of</strong> the elytral suture without an<br />

acute spine; mesothoracic process nub to<br />

weakly projecting apically; apical abdominal<br />

spiracle not protuberant; mesotarsomere 5<br />

and metatarsomere 5 without an internal<br />

tooth; parameres with the apex rounded, not<br />

expanded.<br />

DISTRIBUTION (Fig. 73). Known from<br />

Cochabamba, Bolivia. Occurs in the Andes<br />

Mountains at high elevation (3,500- 4,000 m).<br />

LOCALITY DATA. 2 specimens examined<br />

from HAHC, FMNH.<br />

(Figs. 73, 77)<br />

TYPE SPECIMENS. Male holotype, female<br />

allotype and 133 paratypes (126 male, 7 female).<br />

Holotype male, allotype female, 98<br />

male paratypes, and 3 female paratypes at<br />

CASC, eight male and two female paratypes<br />

at ABTS, three male and two female<br />

paratypes at UNSM, four male paratypes at<br />

HAHC, two male paratypes at BCRC, two<br />

male paratypes at MLJC, two male paratypes<br />

at ZMHB, two male paratypes at USNM, two<br />

male paratypes at FMNH, one male paratype<br />

at VMCP, and 2 male paratypes at DJCC labeled<br />

“PERU 40 km.S.<strong>of</strong> Ayacucho III-8-<br />

1951,” “Ross and Michelbacher Collectors,”<br />

and “Altiplano. Flying at dusk.” Type locality:<br />

40 km south <strong>of</strong> Ayacucho, Ayacucho, Perú.<br />

HOLOTYPE. Male: Length 16.1 mm, width<br />

9.8 mm. Color dorsally <strong>of</strong> tan head and scutellum,<br />

brown pronotum and pygidium, dark<br />

brown elytron. Ventrally tan with brown ab-<br />

dominal sternites. Body subelliptical, convex.<br />

Head: Dorsal surface with clypeus moderately<br />

setose, setae tawny. Frons moderately punctate<br />

(base) to rugose, clypeus rugose. Frons<br />

not depressed. Frontoclypeal suture complete.<br />

Clypeus rounded with well-defined apical<br />

margin. Eyes separated by approximately 4.2<br />

transverse eye-widths. Labrum densely punctate,<br />

with moderately large, setose punctures,<br />

setae tawny. Apex <strong>of</strong> labrum with minute, triangular,<br />

medial tooth, apex <strong>of</strong> tooth well separated<br />

from apex <strong>of</strong> mentum. Apex <strong>of</strong> mentum<br />

with medial notch. Antenna 9-segmented;<br />

club slightly shorter than segments 2-7, approximately<br />

equal to clypeal length.<br />

Pronotum: Surface setose; setae long, tawny.<br />

Surface moderately punctate, with moderate<br />

punctures. Marginal bead weak laterally, absent<br />

apically and basally. Elytron: Surface<br />

glabrous; longitudinal striae weakly impressed,<br />

weakly punctate; punctures moderate;<br />

intervals impunctate. Suture rounded<br />

apically, without spine. Pygidium: Width approximately<br />

2.0 times length medially. Surface<br />

weakly convex, sparsely punctate;<br />

punctures moderate, setose near apex; setae<br />

long, tawny. Venter: Thorax densely setose,<br />

setae tawny. Mesothoracic process greatly reduced<br />

nub adjacent to mesocoxa. Abdomen<br />

sparsely setose; setae long, tawny. Apical 2<br />

spiracles strongly extruding, cylindrical.<br />

Legs: Protibia with 3 teeth in apical half; apical<br />

2 teeth close together, longer; third tooth<br />

shorter. Mesotibia and metatibia widest medially.<br />

Protarsomeres 3-4 wider than long,<br />

cup-shaped. Protarsomere 4 without stridulatory<br />

ridge. Protarsomere 5 without internal<br />

tooth. Mesotarsomere and metatarsomere 5<br />

without internal swelling or tooth. Unguitractor<br />

plate cylindrical, with 1 apical, 1 subapical<br />

seta. Modified protarsal claw with<br />

length approximately equal to protarsomere<br />

5, greatly thickened and elongate when compared<br />

with other claw, dorsoventrally flattened,<br />

apex unevenly bifurcate. Modified<br />

mesotarsal and metatarsal claws elongated<br />

with ventral tooth, not thickened.<br />

ALLOTYPE. Length 19.5 mm, width 10.9<br />

mm. As male except in the following respects.<br />

Venter: Apical 2 spiracles weakly extruded.
