est medially. Protarsomeres 2-4 wider than<br />

long, cup-shaped. Protarsomere 4 with<br />

internoapical stridulatory ridge. Protarsomere<br />

5 without internal tooth. Mesotarsomere<br />

and metatarsomere 5 with<br />

internomedial tooth. Unguitractor plate cylindrical,<br />

with 2 subapical seta. Modified<br />

protarsal claw with length approximately<br />

equal to protarsomere 5, thickened and elongate<br />

when compared with other claw, dorsoventrally<br />

flattened, apex unevenly bifurcate.<br />

Modified mesotarsal and metatarsal claws<br />

elongated with ventral tooth, not thickened.<br />

Male Genitalia: Parameres 1.3 times longer<br />

than length <strong>of</strong> phallobase. Parameres<br />

smooth, slightly enlarged at apex.<br />

Female (n=16). Length 25.2-29.4 mm,<br />

width 12.9-16.9 mm. As male except in the<br />

following respects. Legs: Protarsomere 4<br />

without internoapical stridulatory ridge.<br />

Protarsomere 5 without internal tooth. Modified<br />

protarsal claw with ventral tooth, not<br />

thickened.<br />

DIAGNOSIS. This species is distinguished<br />

from all other species in the genus Platycoelia<br />

by the following combination <strong>of</strong> characters:<br />

frontoclypeal suture complete; apex <strong>of</strong> the<br />

labrum with a broad, triangular tooth weakly<br />

overlapping the mentum; mentum with a distinct<br />

tooth not curved into the oral cavity;<br />

mentum base medially depressed; antenna<br />

10-segmented; elytron with distinct, yellow,<br />

longitudinal lines on striae 3 and 5; elytral<br />

apices not capable <strong>of</strong> completely covering the<br />

pygidium; apex <strong>of</strong> the elytral suture without<br />

an acute spine; metasternum and abdominal<br />

sternites green or yellow; mesothoracic process<br />

projecting apically to procoxa; apical<br />

abdominal spiracle not protuberant; mesotarsomere<br />

5 and metatarsomere 5 with an<br />

internomedial tooth; parameres with the apex<br />

rounded, not expanded.<br />

DISTRIBUTION (Fig. 66). Southern Perú to<br />

central Bolivia on the eastern slope <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Andes Mountains.<br />
