In 2009 the total number of employees dismissed by <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> SA in mainland France amounted<br />

to 278 FTE.<br />

9. Temporary staff<br />

External workforce: The m<strong>on</strong>thly average number of temporary staff in France was 701 NPP. France<br />

11. Working hours<br />

Extensive possibilities for requesting part-time work arrangements are available to employees.<br />

A total of 10.8% of employees at <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> SA in mainland France have opted for part-time<br />

work arrangements.<br />

After <strong>on</strong>e year of service, employees are eligible for a working time savings account in which<br />

leave days can be accumulated. Leave days saved in this account can be taken in various forms<br />

(pers<strong>on</strong>al c<strong>on</strong>venience leaves, co-investment in training, financing a shift to part-time). In 2009,<br />

16,418 employees were using a working time savings account.<br />

With the agreement of their manager, employees can also take 5 to 20 days of unpaid leave.<br />

12. Working hours and days for full-time employees<br />

In France, the average working week for a full-time employee is generally 35 hours. At <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> SA,<br />

the theoretical number of days worked per employee per year (<strong>on</strong> a fixed working hours basis) was<br />

13. Working week for part-time employees<br />

Of the employees who have chosen to work part time, 93.6% are women. The most comm<strong>on</strong><br />

arrangements are to work at 50%, 60%, or 80% of full time. 70% of part-time employees have opted to<br />

14. Absenteeism and reas<strong>on</strong>s for absenteeism<br />

As from 2009, absenteeism rates are calculated using a base headcount of over 60,000 NPP<br />

employees in France.<br />

Prior to 2009, the absenteeism rate was calculated exclusively for <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> SA in mainland<br />

France. In 2009 the absenteeism rate for the Group in France was 9.2%. Maternity leave accounted<br />

for 2.1 percentage points of this rate. France<br />

In 2008 the absenteeism rate at <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> SA in mainland France was 9%.<br />

Maternity leave accounted for 1.7 percentage points of this rate.<br />

Since 2008, absenteeism rates have included unpaid absences, such as l<strong>on</strong>g-term leave<br />

without pay and leave to start a business. Unpaid absences accounted for 4% of total absences<br />

within <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> SA.<br />

After maternity leave and leave to start a business, the main cause of absenteeism c<strong>on</strong>tinues<br />

to be illnesses that result in l<strong>on</strong>g-term absences.<br />

15. Remunerati<strong>on</strong><br />

The average m<strong>on</strong>thly remunerati<strong>on</strong> of <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> SA employees in mainland France was EUR 3,255 in 2009.<br />

• 91.1% of employees received variable pay in the form of a b<strong>on</strong>us (90.7% of women and 91.7% of men).<br />

• 40.9% were awarded an increase in base pay.<br />

• 12.7% received promoti<strong>on</strong>.<br />
