20. Employee relati<strong>on</strong>s and collective bargaining<br />

As in previous years, there was c<strong>on</strong>structive dialogue with employee representatives within <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong><br />
SA in 2009. The Commissi<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> Employment Law, <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> SA’s labour negotiati<strong>on</strong> body,<br />
met <strong>on</strong> 37 occasi<strong>on</strong>s, and 14 new agreements were signed with trade uni<strong>on</strong>s. SA Mainland<br />
21. Health and safety<br />

• Medical assistance to employees who were victims of attacks<br />
In 2009, 46 employees received medical assistance after an attack. Five of them were referred<br />
to specialists for psychological help.<br />
• Training for medical staff and refresher courses for first-aid workers<br />
Initiatives aimed at providing refresher courses for first-aid workers were maintained:<br />
144 employees were trained and 276 went through courses to refresh their skills.<br />
• Vaccinati<strong>on</strong>s<br />
C<strong>on</strong>tinued large-scale vaccinati<strong>on</strong> campaign with 3,960 flu shots administered.<br />
- Preventive clinical activities<br />
- Cardiovascular: 226 evaluati<strong>on</strong>s of cardiovascular health, five of which required a day in hospital,<br />
- Screening for glaucoma and diabetes,<br />
• Erg<strong>on</strong>omics of workstati<strong>on</strong>s: 13 plan studies, 122 premises inspecti<strong>on</strong>s and 8 studies were c<strong>on</strong>ducted in 2009.<br />
• 739 people participated in the blood d<strong>on</strong>ati<strong>on</strong> drive. SA Mainland<br />
22. Training<br />

For <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> SA in mainland France, the number of employees enrolled in courses of study<br />
leading to a diploma were 268 for the Brevet Professi<strong>on</strong>nel diploma in banking, 478 for the BTS diploma<br />
in banking and 226 for the Institut Technique de Banque diploma.<br />
In 2009, 10,642 employees of <strong>BNP</strong> Paris SA in mainland France applied for training under<br />
the dIF (Individual right to training) scheme. SA Mainland<br />
23. Employment and integrati<strong>on</strong> of pers<strong>on</strong>s with disabilities<br />

In 2009, the number of employees with disabilities at <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> SA was 850 versus 754 in 2008<br />
and 730 in 2007. The number of beneficiary (handicap-equivalent) units (BU) was 1,006 versus 986 in 2008. SA Mainland<br />
An agreement <strong>on</strong> employment and inclusi<strong>on</strong> of pers<strong>on</strong>s with disabilities was signed in 2008.<br />
This agreement is part of <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong>’ overall n<strong>on</strong>-discriminati<strong>on</strong> and diversity initiative, and it follows up<br />
<strong>on</strong> commitments made by the Group when the diversity Charter was signed in 2004. This agreement<br />
expresses all parties’ desire to see <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> implement a proactive l<strong>on</strong>g-term policy in favour<br />
of the employment and inclusi<strong>on</strong> of pers<strong>on</strong>s with disabilities. It calls for acti<strong>on</strong>s in four areas:<br />
• develop a recruitment plan for pers<strong>on</strong>s with disabilities in the ordinary work envir<strong>on</strong>ment;<br />
• improve c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s for bringing pers<strong>on</strong>s with disabilities into jobs by offering appropriate working<br />
c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s, access to professi<strong>on</strong>al training and technological accommodati<strong>on</strong>s;<br />
• seek out str<strong>on</strong>ger partnerships with the sheltered work sector;<br />
• an <strong>on</strong>going focus <strong>on</strong> key c<strong>on</strong>siderati<strong>on</strong>s for maintaining pers<strong>on</strong>s with disabilities in employment.<br />
The Group keeps an active list of organisati<strong>on</strong>s in the sheltered work sector so that subc<strong>on</strong>tractors<br />
of Group entities can be referred to and encouraged to call <strong>on</strong> such organisati<strong>on</strong>s. France<br />
24. Social and cultural activities<br />
Social and cultural activities that are nati<strong>on</strong>al in scope are managed by the Central Works Council.<br />
Local service activities are managed by local works councils. Services include children’s summer camps<br />
and organised holidays for staff, c<strong>on</strong>tributi<strong>on</strong>s to meal expenses, family welfare, lending libraries<br />
for books, records, videos and other media, and discounts for theatres and cinemas.<br />
A sports and cultural associati<strong>on</strong> gives employees the opportunity to take part in a variety<br />
of team sports and cultural activities.<br />
A breakdown of <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> SA’s c<strong>on</strong>tributi<strong>on</strong>s to cultural and social activities is provided<br />
in the Company’s Social Audit.<br />
The budget for such activities in 2009 amounted to EUR 94.6 milli<strong>on</strong>. SA Mainland<br />
