associati<strong>on</strong> for disabled children in<br />
greece, the jasnenka foundati<strong>on</strong> in<br />
the czech republic, sos children’s<br />
villages in germany, unicef in Poland<br />
and the mohammed-v foundati<strong>on</strong> in<br />

bnp paribas egypt and<br />
egyptian food bank<br />
in 2009, bnP <strong>Paribas</strong> egypt joined forces<br />
with the egyptian food bank (efb) in<br />
its missi<strong>on</strong> to overcome hunger. the<br />
efb w<strong>on</strong> recogniti<strong>on</strong> from the united<br />
nati<strong>on</strong>s in 2008. throughout the year,<br />
the bank helped provide food to two<br />
villages in upper egypt, and sp<strong>on</strong>sored<br />
the efb’s educati<strong>on</strong>al and promoti<strong>on</strong>al<br />
campaign <strong>on</strong> tv and in other media to<br />
combat food wastage and encourage<br />
d<strong>on</strong>ati<strong>on</strong>s. during ramadan, employees<br />
were granted a day’s leave to work<br />
voluntarily for the efb in putting together<br />
food parcels for the poor.<br />
ubci and sos children’s<br />
villages<br />
for the sec<strong>on</strong>d year running in 2009,<br />
ubci, the bank’s tunisian subsidiary,<br />
supported the sos children’s villages<br />
associati<strong>on</strong> by organising a drawing<br />
competiti<strong>on</strong> in three sos villages in<br />
gammarth, siliana and mahrès. the<br />
theme this year was the envir<strong>on</strong>ment.<br />
sos children’s villages, an associati<strong>on</strong><br />
that helps vulnerable children with no<br />
parental care, brought together a jury<br />
of artists, volunteers and employees<br />
of the bank. Prizes were awarded to<br />
the three best drawings in each village.<br />
sos children’s villages is also<br />
supported in algeria by bnP <strong>Paribas</strong><br />
el djazair and in morocco by the bmci<br />
foundati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
bnp paribas Wealth<br />
management and<br />
Ateliers sans fr<strong>on</strong>tières<br />
in 2009, as part of its recycling initiatives,<br />
bnP <strong>Paribas</strong> wealth management<br />
c<strong>on</strong>tinued its partnership with the associati<strong>on</strong><br />
Ateliers sans Fr<strong>on</strong>tières, whose<br />
missi<strong>on</strong> is to help bring stability to the<br />
pers<strong>on</strong>al and professi<strong>on</strong>al lives of the<br />
most excluded. bnP <strong>Paribas</strong> wealth<br />
management d<strong>on</strong>ates its used computer<br />
equipment to the associati<strong>on</strong> to<br />
help it create jobs and equip educati<strong>on</strong>al<br />
associati<strong>on</strong>s in northern africa<br />
and eastern europe.<br />
bnl and support<br />
for l’Aquila earthquake<br />
victims<br />
<strong>on</strong> 9 july 2009 in the town of l’aquila in<br />
italy, bnP <strong>Paribas</strong> and bnl took part in<br />
the inaugurati<strong>on</strong> of the Arti e spettacolo<br />
associati<strong>on</strong>’s sale per lo spettacolo, in<br />
the presence of a number of celebrities.<br />
sale per lo spettacolo, which is financed<br />
by the banks, was created after the<br />
earthquake that ravaged the italian regi<strong>on</strong><br />
of abruzzo <strong>on</strong> 6 april 2009. l’aquila<br />
was particularly badly hit with the loss<br />
of 299 lives, thousands of people injured<br />
and 18,000 people left homeless.<br />
the bnP <strong>Paribas</strong> foundati<strong>on</strong> provided<br />
financial support to organise and<br />
present a variety of events and workshops,<br />
to meet families in their makeshift<br />
homes and also to pay the artistes<br />
a modest sum for their c<strong>on</strong>tributi<strong>on</strong>. this<br />
initiative not <strong>on</strong>ly provides support for<br />
the victims but also encourages artists<br />
to stay in the regi<strong>on</strong>.<br />
