<strong>Return</strong> <strong>Migration</strong>: Policies and Practices<br />

Confirmation by <strong>IOM</strong> one week be<strong>for</strong>e departure of accessibility to final destination <strong>for</strong> each<br />

returnee (security clearance, weather related conditions);<br />

Provision of <strong>IOM</strong>-assisted passenger bags, <strong>for</strong> immediate identification of returnees at transit<br />

points;<br />

Meeting returnees upon disembarkation at selected airports and assisting in arrangements<br />

such as customs procedures;<br />

Arrangements and provision of onward in-country transportation in selected countries;<br />

Provision of a monthly activity report and periodic invoicing on expenses incurred.<br />

Required Additional Services<br />

Depending on the country of destination, the following additional services are required and will<br />

be coordinated by <strong>IOM</strong> Helsinki:<br />

Overnight board and lodging in selected countries, where in-country journey cannot be undertaken<br />

on the day of arrival;<br />

Reception assistance upon arrival in the country of origin.<br />

Optional Services<br />

In addition to the basic services outline above, the following optional services are also available<br />

at extra cost if desired, and are coordinated by <strong>IOM</strong> Helsinki:<br />

Assistance in obtaining travel documents (passports, visas etc.) <strong>for</strong> the returnees;<br />

Medical escorts, when necessary;<br />

Arranging transportation of returnees’ personal belongings (<strong>for</strong> ex. 200 kg – 2 cubic meters)<br />

from designated pick up point in the Nordic countries to selected countries of origin as cargo<br />

freight. This also includes airport processing of freight and where necessary its storage and<br />

release to returnees upon their arrival;<br />

In cooperation with the relevant <strong>IOM</strong> office, in-country onward transportation of cargo, in<br />

conjunction with returnees to agreed drop off points <strong>for</strong> final destination in selected countries;<br />

In cooperation with the relevant <strong>IOM</strong> office, reintegration Payment Processing; including the<br />

payment of a one time installation/reintegration grant to each returnee in the amount defined<br />

by the host country.<br />
