Finland received an unusually large number of manifestly unfounded asylum applications from<br />

Poland and Slovakia in the summer of 2000. The government asked <strong>for</strong> <strong>IOM</strong>’s assistance in<br />

returning these people and several charter flights were arranged, which explains why the figures<br />

<strong>for</strong> 2000 were unusually high.<br />

These figures include all assisted voluntary returns from Finland that were facilitated by <strong>IOM</strong>.
