JI/CDM: Good opportunities for the energy sector of West Balkan countries By attracting foreign investors for the financing of projects to modernize the energy sector. As investors can sell CERs and ERUs they have an additional incentive to invest. Transfer of technology and know-how from industrialized countries West Balkan energy sector has a high reduction potential. JI/CDM could provide especially good opportunities to modernize old coal fired thermal power plants as well as to expand renewable energy sources.
