Import restrictions<br />

Senders should determine import restrictions from Egyptian authorities before posting:<br />

Egypt requires an import permit for all goods except personal gifts up to 20 Egyptian pounds value.<br />

Before posting any item, senders should confirm that the addressee has any necessary permit.<br />

Moslem religious books written in other than an Arabic language require a permit from the Customs<br />

Department. Copies of the Koran require a permit from the Department of Public Security.<br />

Items of workmanship in precious metals must be marked as to metal content.<br />

Special documentation<br />

All commercial goods or merchandise must contain an invoice, a detailed list of contents, and a<br />

Certificate of Origin. Egyptian postcodes always precede the name of the city or town.<br />

Prohibitions<br />

In addition to items prohibited by Dangerous and Prohibited Goods & Packaging <strong>Post</strong> <strong>Guide</strong> and<br />

ECI and EPI-Parcels Regulations (see �5.8.2), Egypt prohibits lottery tickets.
