Import restrictions<br />
Drugs and medicines<br />
Drugs and medicines must be in separate articles and in their original packaging. The article must<br />
contain a medical prescription endorsed by the Romanian Health Authorities.<br />
Sealing of packages<br />
Romania does not admit items (except drugs or medicines) packed in hermetically sealed metal<br />
containers.<br />
Gifts<br />
Gifts to private persons do not require an import permit but are liable to customs duty. No person<br />
may receive more than 25 kg of gifts in any one year. No commercial house may send gifts except<br />
for books. Gift packages must not contain used clothing, used shoes or used linen. Each gift package<br />
must contain a detailed list of its contents. Gifts may contain only items for the personal use of the<br />
addressee or family as shown in the list.<br />
