�5.9.3 – Lodgement<br />
Senders may only lodge firearms and firearms parts in the international mail if all of the lodgement<br />
conditions below are met:<br />
� In the Sea Mail service only<br />
� To a destination country serviced by the Sea Mail service<br />
� To a destination country which does not prohibit firearms or firearm parts in the mail<br />
� With the necessary documentation (whether required by <strong>Australia</strong>n Customs, or any other party)<br />
is completed by the sender<br />
� The article is being consigned in full compliance with <strong>Australia</strong>n law, and the law of the country<br />
of destination<br />
�5.9.4 – Additional documentation<br />
Details of the permission’s, prohibitions, restrictions and item definitions which relate to the import<br />
of firearms and firearm parts may be modified, added to, or withdrawn by individual countries at any<br />
time. Senders are responsible for making their own inquiries to ensure that they have the most up-todate<br />
information, and should always confirm that the firearms and/or firearm parts being lodged has<br />
the necessary licence or permit to enter the destination country. Failure to do so could result in the<br />
return or confiscation of these goods.<br />
�5.10 – <strong>International</strong> Mail Security Requirements<br />
Following Federal Government legislation requirements, <strong>Australia</strong> <strong>Post</strong> requires customers to provide<br />
acceptable Photo or Signature identification when lodging <strong>International</strong> mail that requires Customs<br />
documentation. This includes all international items over 2kg.<br />
Where international mail is lodged without such identification, Federal Government requirements<br />
impose security related delays. Further, <strong>Australia</strong> <strong>Post</strong> will not accept international mail unless the<br />
necessary customs documentation is completed and signed.<br />
These security requirements also apply to:<br />
� <strong>International</strong> Sea Mail<br />
� Mail addressed to <strong>Australia</strong>n External Territories (Christmas Islands, Cocos (Keeling) Islands,<br />
Norfolk Islands, <strong>Australia</strong>n Antarctic Territory and Territory of Heard Island and McDonald<br />
Island)<br />
� Defence Force Mail that requires customs documentation<br />
�5.10.1 – Exempt Articles<br />
The following international articles weighing no more than 500 grams are exempt from the<br />
security requirements:<br />
� An international letter that contains only written correspondence or documents, and does not<br />
require Customs Documentation<br />
� An Aerogramme or <strong>Post</strong> card<br />
� Prepaid Registered <strong>Post</strong> envelope<br />
� Prepaid ECI 500g envelope<br />
� Prepaid Express <strong>Post</strong> <strong>International</strong> envelope.<br />
Only exempt articles may be posted in street posting boxes (SPBs). All other international articles<br />
posted in SPBs will either incur delays or be returned to sender.<br />
Only ECI and EPI - Parcels prepaid articles (including those over 500 grams but up to 3kg) may be<br />
posted in a GOLD street posting box.<br />
�5.10.2 – Acceptable Photo or Signature Identification<br />
� Drivers Licence issued by an <strong>Australia</strong>n State or Territory (with a photograph)<br />
� Passport (with a photograph)<br />
� Government issued Identification<br />
� Bank Credit/Debit card<br />
� Tertiary Student Identification (with a photograph)<br />
