and Diagnostics<br />
5.1 <strong>5800</strong> Diagnostics The sampler has built-in diagnostics routines that trained<br />
service technicians use to confirm that all sampler subsystems<br />
are working correctly or to locate faults. Many of the diagnostic<br />
routines also can be run in the field.<br />
In many cases the sampler will determine if the test passes or<br />
fails.<br />
• If a test passes, the sampler displays a message showing<br />
the test passed and emits a short beep.<br />
• If a test fails, the sampler displays a message with some<br />
detail about the failure. The unit will emit a wavering<br />
tone for five seconds.<br />
In a few cases, the service technician must determine if the test<br />
passed or failed based on a sampler function that must be<br />
observed.<br />
The sampler automatically reverts to the SELECT DIAG menu<br />
after displaying the test results or when the test is complete or<br />
expired.<br />
To start the diagnostics from the standby screen:<br />

TEST 'RAM'<br />
1. Select the CONFIGURE option and press Enter.<br />
2. Press the Previous button until the RUN DIAGNOSTICS<br />
option is displayed. Press Enter.<br />
3. The sampler displays a diagnostic option. Press Enter to<br />
start the test or press the Next or Previous buttons to<br />
scroll through the diagnostic options.<br />
