2.3.5 Pump Motor and<br />
Wiring<br />
1. Free the motor from the module’s wiring by cutting the<br />
plastic cable tie.<br />
2. Remove the nut and optical disk from the pump shaft.<br />
3. Remove the four large Phillips screws holding the motor<br />
plate on the base.<br />

4. Remove the four large Phillips screws that mount the<br />
motor to the plate. Do not remove the motor gear from the<br />
motor shaft. Replace as an assembly.<br />
The brass idler gear bushing engages with the idler gear shaft.<br />
When seating the idler gear, first lubricate its shaft with grease.<br />
The black plastic bushing (also known as the thrust bushing)<br />
normally rests on the shaft of the drive gear, acting as a spacer<br />
(Figure 2-13). If replacing one or both of the bushings, ensure<br />
that the bushing flanges rest on the motor gear side (bottom) of<br />
the plate (Figure 2-13).<br />
