When a group of sericulturists returns from their marketing trips. those<br />

sericulturists who are awaiting their tum <strong>for</strong> marketing their cocoons,<br />

throng them <strong>for</strong> knowing the latest market rates and the prevathng<br />

trends. Though the rates are generally flashed through radio and news<br />

paper, the first-hand in<strong>for</strong>mation of the fellow sericulturists provides a<br />

realistic picture, facilitating them better, in their choice of the market.<br />

Many a times, such trips turn out to be a sort of merry trips and an<br />

occasion of joy and bliss as it brings them the fruit of their month-long<br />

intensive-labour and anxiety.<br />

It is to be noted that the individual interactions many a times<br />

transcends the boundaries of caste-barriers. It would not be surprising to<br />

see, <strong>for</strong> instance, even a scheduled caste rearer becoming part of such<br />

companionship, as it has happened in the case of Marimuthu of K K<br />

factors in the operation of sericulture enterprise. There are any number<br />

of cases in the study villages, which prove to illustrate the influence of<br />

inter-familial and kinship networks in the adoption as well as in the<br />

successful operation of sericulture.<br />

Family interactions many a times overlap with the individual and<br />

kinship interactions. The general areas of interaction at the family level<br />

include the sharing of rearing space, exchange of equipments, exchange<br />
