Poet, fiction writer, and columnist, Jáchym Topol is the grandson of the novelist Karel Schulz and son of the poet,
dramatist and translator Josef Topol. Apart from earning his living doing various kinds of manual labour, he wrote lyrics
for the rock groups Psi vojáci (Dog Soldiers) and Národni trida (National Avenue), with whom he also sometimes sang.
He published the samizdat journal Violit, helped to found the Mozková mrtvice (Stroke) book series, the journal Revolver
Revue and the politics journal Sport. In 1986 he signed Charter 77. After the changes of November 1989, he worked as
a reporter, in 1990, and was an editor of the weekly Respekt, the irregularly published Revolver Revue (of which he was
Editor-in-Chief in 1991-3) and the arts and culture review Raut. At present he devotes himself to writing. His books are
translated into several languages.
Michal Viewegh (1962)
Michal se narodil v Praze, své dětství a mládí strávil v malém městě Sázavě ve středních
Čechách. Poté co dobrovolně zanechal studií na pražské ekonomické univerzitě, pracoval jako
manuální dělník v geofyzice a jako noční hlídač. Později absolvoval Karlovu univerzitu – Filosofickou
fakultu s aprobací český jazyk a literatura a pedagogika. Zprvu učil na základní škole.
Později se věnoval publikační činnosti. V roce 1995 zahájil kariéru profesionálního spisovatele.
Celkové množství vydaných výtisků Vieweghových knih překročilo 600 tisíc, včetně několika
dotisků. Jeho dílo bylo přeloženo do sedmnácti jazyků, dvakrát posloužilo jako předloha pro
film a dvakrát bylo předlohou pro divadelní hry. Jeho knihy: Názory na vraždu /Opinions on

Michal was born in Prague and spent his childhood and youth in the small town of Sázava in Central Bohemia. When
he voluntarily ended his studies at the Prague University of Economics, he worked as a manual worker in the sphere of
geophysics and as a night watchman. He later graduated from the Charles University - Philosophical Faculty, having mastered
in the Czech Language and Literature - Pedagogy. His first assignment was that of a teacher at a primary school.
He then moved to the field of publishing as an editor. Since the year 1995 he has embarked on the career of professional
writing. The total number of published copies of Viewegh‘s books has exceeded six-hundred-thousand, including several
reprints, and his works have so far been translated into seventeen languages, having been adapted twice for the screen
