Off-gases from the Noranda Continuous Converter and the Peirce-Smith converters are treated in electrostatic precipitators to remove particulates. Dust is returned to the reactor for the recovery of copper, and is also bled from the circuit to control impurity levels and reduce emissions. The Noranda Continuous Converter off-gases are also treated for sulphur dioxide recovery by the acid plant. The Peirce-Smith converter off-gases go directly to atmosphere after the ESP via a tall stack. 82
