3.3. Analysis of Emissions 3.3.1. Total Particulate Matter (TPM) and Sulphur Dioxide (SO 2 ) and Other substances toxic pursuant to the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) Table 6 to Table 12 show the historical trends (from 1988 to 1998 for PM, SO 2 and from 1998 to 2000 for Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead, Mercury and Nickel ) by facilities and by provinces 95 . Trends per provinces and per substances are all also shown in Figure 22 to Figure 28. All information, up to 1998, presented in this section is based on data provided by the BMSS facilities through the Environmental Performance Profile Data Sheet questionnaire referred to above and summarized by Hatch Associates 96 . For years 1999 and 2000, data for metals on metals is extracted from the National Pollutant Releases Inventory 97 , while data for total particulate matter and sulphur dioxide is from the Mining Associate of Canada 98,99 . It should be noted that not all sites provided historical data for each of the years. Facilities for which data is missing is noted in each section. All sites are included whether or not they release or reported releases of the substances. The following notations are used: •
