Born in Érsekújvár (Nové Zámky) in 1923<br />

Probably perished in Auschwitz in 1944<br />

Member of “Hashomer Hatzair”<br />

Shlomo joined the movement in adolescence. In 1943 he moved to<br />

Budapest. After the Germans invaded Hungary on 19.3.1944, he joined<br />

the underground activities of his movement under a false name. Shlomo<br />

travelled to his hometown to visit his parents <strong>and</strong> convince them to<br />

escape to Budapest <strong>and</strong> avoid being deported. He was caught on the<br />

train <strong>and</strong> deported to Auschwitz. His traces were lost.<br />

Kleinman Haya<br />

Born in Nagykapos (Vel’ké Kapušany) in 1923<br />

Member of “Bnei Akiva”<br />

Haya lived in Budapest from 1941. In 1944 she joined the underground.<br />

Thanks to Aryan documents she received from “Bnei Akiva”, she<br />

maintained contact between the members of the leadership in the “Glass<br />

House” <strong>and</strong> comrades in hiding all around the city, some with Aryan<br />

documents <strong>and</strong> others without any documents. She stayed at the “Glass<br />

House” on Vadász Street from where she went on many missions. Haya<br />

distributed Swiss Protection Documents <strong>and</strong> made contact with activists<br />

from the movement who also operated with Aryan documents. Haya<br />

rescued Jews from the Death March. After the liberation of Hungary she<br />

collected Jewish children <strong>and</strong> educated them. She made aliya in 1947 as<br />

an instructor with a group of children on a long journey that took two<br />

years via Austria, Germany, France <strong>and</strong> Cyprus. From the day she<br />

arrived in Eretz Israel (Palestine), she continued to do educational work.<br />

Haya, a retired teacher, resides in Jerusalem.<br />
