Tzahor Miriam<br />

Weisz Eisenberg Mirjam<br />

Born in Kassa (Košice)<br />

Member of “Bnei Akiva”<br />

In 1943 Miriam <strong>and</strong> her husb<strong>and</strong> Dov moved to Hungary. She took part in<br />

the underground activities. Miriam returned to Slovakia to visit her<br />

parents, was caught <strong>and</strong> sent back to Hungary.<br />

She made aliya. She worked as a nurse.<br />

Tzur Haim<br />

Burger Endre<br />

Born in Nagymihályi (Michalovce) on 8.11.1923<br />

Member of “Hashomer Hatzair”<br />

Haim arrived in Budapest in 1941. He gave assistance to refugees<br />

arriving from Slovakia. He was caught <strong>and</strong> deported back to Slovakia but<br />

succeeded in returning to Budapest.<br />

After the Germans invaded Hungary on 19.3.1944, Haim was caught<br />

again <strong>and</strong> imprisoned in the detention camp in Kistarcsa. He escaped<br />

<strong>and</strong>, in June 1944, managed to cross the border into Romania within the<br />

framework of the tiyul together with a group of friends. In Romania Haim<br />

was caught again but managed to get free.<br />

In November 1944 he arrived in Eretz Israel (Palestine). He was a<br />

member of the garin of the hahshara in Kibbutz Negba <strong>and</strong> from 1946 to<br />

1960 was a member of Kibbutz Yehiam.<br />

He is married to Lea Tzur <strong>and</strong> lives in Givatayim.<br />

Tzur Lea<br />

Wertheimer Olga<br />

Born in Hajdúsámson on 19.10.1925<br />

Member of “Hashomer Hatzair”<br />

Lea joined the movement in 1939. After the Germans invaded Hungary<br />

on 19.3.1944, she was rescued from Debrecen by Haim Golan<br />

(Fettmann), an emissary from the movement, together with another four<br />

girls. She took part in rescue operations equipped with <strong>for</strong>ged<br />

documents. She traveled mainly between Debrecen <strong>and</strong> Budapest <strong>and</strong><br />

moved house in<br />
