Moshe stayed at the “Glass House” on Vadász Street.<br />

He made aliya in 1945 <strong>and</strong> joined Kibbutz Ha’ogen. Later, he left the<br />

kibbutz. He was a resident of Tivon. Moshe wrote an autobiography "My<br />

Life in those Days", published by “Maarechet” in 1994.<br />

Yirmi was an underground activist <strong>and</strong> carried <strong>for</strong>ged documents. He<br />

served as the liaison person between the center of the movement, which<br />

was located in the “Glass House” on 29, Vadász Street, <strong>and</strong> comrades all<br />

over the city. Yirmi distributed <strong>for</strong>ged documents, food <strong>and</strong> money to the<br />

needy refugees. He saved Jews, who were to be deported to<br />

extermination camps, from the train wagons. Yirmi was caught three<br />

times but managed to escape <strong>and</strong> resume his activities. In January 1945,<br />

the day the Red Army attacked the city, he was staying in one of the<br />

suburbs. He cooperated with communist anti-Nazi activists <strong>and</strong> attacked<br />

a German machine-gun position. He was wounded in the leg by a bullet<br />

<strong>and</strong> hospitalized in a Russian military hospital. In 1947 Yirmi made aliya.<br />

He was a major in the IDF. He is now an industrialist in Carmiel.<br />

After his graduation, Moshe studied printing in his hometown. He was a<br />

member of "Hehalutz". In 1942 he moved to Budapest where he earned<br />

his living in a print shop. In 1943 he was drafted into a <strong>for</strong>ced labor unit,<br />

from which he managed to escape in 1944. Moshe joined his "Dror<br />

Habonim" comrades in the underground <strong>and</strong> hid in a bunker on Hungaria<br />

Boulevard. He was one of the editors of the Zionist Movement<br />

underground newspaper. The bunker was discovered <strong>and</strong> all its<br />

inhabitants were taken to the central military prison on Margit Boulevard,<br />

where they were tortured. In December 1944, members of the<br />

underground rescued them in a daring operation. Moshe made aliya<br />
