Looking for their first road win of the season, the Seahawks could not maintain the momentum they held
at the beginning of the game. Turnovers and a Cowboys punt return TD aided Dallas to a 38-17 win over
Seattle. The Seahawks forced a punt on Dallas’ opening drive and then pieced together a 14-play drive that
resulted in an Olindo Mare field goal to take a 3-0 first-quarter lead. The lead evaporated when a combination
of missed assignments and missed tackles led to a 36-yard Tony Romo to Sam Hurd pitch and catch
for a touchdown. Seattle fumbled three plays into their ensuing drive and the Cowboys took advantage
with Marion Barber scoring on a 2-yard TD run. Seattle wasn’t giving up as Matt Hasselbeck led an 80-yard
drive culminating with a 23-yard TD pass to Deion Branch to pull within 14-10. However, a 7-yard TD pass
from Romo to Roy Williams with :35 remaining in the half pushed the Cowboys lead to 21-10. The Cowboys
opened things up in the third quarter when Romo connected on a his third TD pass of the day, this a 3-
yarder to Miles Austin. After a three-and-out by the Seahawks, Patrick Crayton returned the punt 82 yards
for another Cowboys score and a 35-10 lead at the end of three quarters. The Cowboys tacked on a Nick
Folk field goal before Hasselbeck connected with Justin Griffith on a 4-yard TD pass. In the game, Edgerrin
James moved into the NFL’s top 10 rushing list with 12,246 career rushing yards.
