The inaugural inductee into the Ring of<br />

Honor in 1989, Steve Largent concluded his<br />

14 National Football League seasons with<br />

league career records for receptions, 819;<br />

yards, 13,089; touchdowns, 100; consecutive<br />

games with a reception, 177; 50-catch seasons,<br />

10; and 1000-yard seasons, 8. Largent<br />

became the first <strong>Seahawks</strong> player to be elected<br />

to the Pro Football Hall of Fame July 29,<br />

1995 and only the 23rd player to be elected in<br />

first year of eligibility. He finished in the<br />

AFC's (or NFC's in 1976) top 10 in receptions<br />

10 times in his first 12 seasons. Led the AFC<br />

in receptions in 1978 with 71 and finished<br />

second in 1981 and 1987. Largent finished in<br />

the top 10 in receiving yards seven times,<br />

seasons. Second in games played (200) but<br />

has more starts (197) than any other player in<br />

Sea hawks history. After retiring from the<br />

game in 1989, Largent would gain political<br />

aspirations and represented the 1st District of<br />

the State of Oklahoma for four terms. He<br />

would then serve and be re-elected for his<br />

home state in the United States House of<br />
