• Originally drafted by the New York Jets in the<br />

third round (88th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft.<br />

Spent entire career with the Jets before signing<br />

with the New England Patriots before the 2009<br />

season.<br />

• Has played in 115 career games starting<br />

seven while totaling 159 career receptions,<br />

1,746 yards and 14 touchdowns in eight NFL<br />

seasons.<br />

• Matched or improved his receptions and<br />

yards totals in each of his first six seasons with<br />

the Jets.<br />

• Made NFL debut on special teams against<br />

Kansas City (10/6/02) and notched first reception,<br />

a 10-yarder in a victory at San Diego<br />

(11/3/02).<br />

• In first-career start at Kansas City (9/11/05)<br />

posted a career high with seven catches and<br />

124 yards with a touchdown. Later topped his<br />

Played four seasons from 1998-2001 after redshirting<br />

in 1997. Set school career records for a<br />

tight end with 133 receptions for 1,705 yards<br />

(12.8 avg.) and 13 touchdowns, topping the previous<br />

mark of 107 catches by Mark Brammer<br />

(1976-79). As a senior in 2001, finished third on<br />

the team with 40 catches for 548 yards for four<br />

touchdowns. Caught 33 passes for 461 yards<br />

and two touchdowns in 2000. In 1999, finished<br />

second on the team in receptions (38) and third<br />

in receiving yards (391) and touchdown catches<br />

(4).<br />

PERSONAL: Attended Saline (Mich.) High<br />

School, where he was an Associated Press firstteam<br />

all-state selection in 1996. Selected to participate<br />

in the Michigan High School Football<br />

Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game<br />

in Spartan Stadium. Had 40 receptions for 989<br />

yards (24.7 avg.) and 11 touchdowns as a senior.<br />

Also played basketball and twice led<br />

Saline's basketball team in scoring, averaging<br />

better than 14 points, 10 rebounds and three<br />

blocks in 1996-97. Helped the Hornets win backto-back<br />

Southeastern Conference basketball<br />

titles as a junior and senior. Also lettered in<br />

track, winning the league shot put title as a junior.<br />

As voted by his teammates, he received the<br />

2006 Jets’ Ed Block Courage Award. Started his<br />

own travel agency in 2006. Majored in parks,<br />

recreation and tourism at Michigan State. Son,<br />

Chris Jr. was born in January 2007.
