of Minnesota, starting all 46 games in which he<br />
played, and was regarded as one of the best<br />
centers to ever play at the school. Earned consensus<br />
first-team All-America honors for the<br />
second consecutive year as a senior. Also was<br />
a consensus first-team All-Big Ten Conference<br />
choice and a finalist for the Lombardi Award<br />
and the Outland Trophy. Named a first-team All-<br />
American as a junior. Tabbed a first-team All-Big<br />
Ten Conference choice (coaches) and won the<br />
team’s Paul Giel Award, which honors the player<br />
who shows total unselfishness and most<br />
concern about the University of Minnesota, as<br />
a junior. Received honorable mention All-Big<br />
HOW ACQUIRED: Signed by Seattle on<br />
January 8, 2009, as a free agent.<br />
NFL CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:<br />
• Originally a sixth-round draft choice (171st<br />
overall) by the New Orleans Saints in the 2006<br />
NFL Draft. Released by the Saints after camp<br />
and spent 2006 on the Chicago Bears practice<br />
squad.<br />
Ten honors as a freshman and sophomore after<br />
redshirting in 1996.<br />
PERSONAL: Hamilton earned honorable<br />
mention All-America honors from USA Today<br />
as a senior at Wayzata High School in<br />
Plymouth, Minn., and added Minneapolis Star<br />
Tribune all-state, all-conference and all-Metro<br />
accolades as he helped lead his school to the<br />
1995 Section 8AA crown. Represented the<br />
Metro team in the 1996 Minnesota High School<br />
All-Star game. Also lettered in tennis and was<br />
an honor roll student. His father, Wes, played<br />
on the offensive line at Tulsa and with the<br />
Minnesota Vikings (1976-85). Wes was drafted<br />
by the Vikings in the third round of the 1976 NFL<br />
Draft and played 116 games with the club.<br />
Graduated from Minnesota with a bachelor’s<br />
degree in engineering. Married to Jeanne.<br />
Couple has four children (three sons: Elijah,<br />
Samuel and James and one daughter: Grace).<br />
