Hired on February 4, <strong>2010</strong>, Luke Butkus<br />

enters his first season in Seattle after spending<br />

three years as the Chicago Bears offensive<br />

assistant/assistant offensive line coach.<br />

Signed by the Bears as an undrafted free<br />

agent out of the University of Illinois in 2002,<br />

Butkus returned to Chicago after beginning his<br />

coaching career as a graduate assistant coach<br />

with the University of Oregon from 2005-06.<br />

A center during his playing days, Butkus<br />

moved into coaching at Oregon after finishing<br />

his professional football career in 2004 following<br />

training camp with the Houston Texans.<br />

Prior to that he played two seasons in NFL<br />

Europe, for the Rhein Fire in 2003 and the<br />

Cologne Centurions in 2004. Butkus spent<br />

most of the 2002 season on the San Diego<br />

Chargers practice squad and went to training<br />

camp with the team in 2003.<br />

Butkus was a four-year letterwinner at the<br />

University of Illinois from 1998-2001. He was<br />

named a third-team All-American his senior<br />

year while also garnering All-Big Ten honors as<br />

a team captain.<br />

Named to his current position February 4,<br />

<strong>2010</strong>, Canales enters the NFL after one season<br />

as USC’s offensive administrative assistant in<br />

2009.<br />

Canales’ primary responsibilities include<br />

video study of opponents, self-scouting, playbook<br />

production, and assisting offensive coordinator<br />

Jeremy Bates.<br />

Prior to USC, he coached quarterbacks at El<br />

Camino College from 2006-08.<br />

A graduate of Azusa Pacific, where he<br />

played receiver for four years, he earned his<br />

He is a graduate of Bloom Township High<br />

School in suburban Chicago and the nephew<br />

of legendary Bears linebacker Dick Butkus. He<br />

and has done so at the Revie Sorey & Jerry<br />

Azumah All-Pro Football Camps since 1995.<br />

Butkus, born on June 26, 1979, and his<br />

wife, Nici, have one son, Benjamin.<br />
