gains 267 yards rushing, giving them back-to-back 200-yard rushing games for the first<br />

1994 — 1/2 The <strong>Seahawks</strong> finish the season 6-10 after dropping a 34-24 decision to the AFC<br />

West Champion Kansas City Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium. John L. Williams rushes for 102<br />

yards, to give the <strong>Seahawks</strong> three straight games with an individual over 100 yards, a franchise<br />

first. Rick Mirer becomes the first rookie quarterback since 1973 to start all his team’s<br />

games and only the third since the 1970 merger. Mirer ends the season with NFL rookie<br />

passing records for attempts (486), completions (274), and yards (2,833), while helping to<br />

improve Seattle’s win total by four games. 2/24 Nate Odomes, two-time Pro Bowl cornerback<br />

of the Buffalo Bills signs as a free agent. 2/28 Odomes’ Buffalo teammate and fellow<br />

two-time Pro Bowler, tackle Howard Ballard signs as a free agent. 4/24 Texas A&M<br />

University defensive tackle Sam Adams is the <strong>Seahawks</strong> first-round draft choice. Adams is<br />

the eighth player picked on the first round. 7/19 Kingdome ceiling tiles fall from roof forcing<br />

closure of the building until November 5. <strong>Seahawks</strong> play both preseason games and<br />

first three regular season games in the University of Washington’s 72,500 seat Husky<br />

Stadium. 8/13 <strong>Seahawks</strong> play first-ever outdoor game in Seattle defeating Tampa Bay<br />

9/11 Chris Warren scores two touchdowns for the second straight week as <strong>Seahawks</strong> go 2-<br />

0 with a 38-9 win over the Raiders in Los Angeles. Rick Mirer tosses three touchdown passes.<br />

9/18 San Diego Chargers stop <strong>Seahawks</strong> two-game winning streak, 24-10, before<br />

<strong>Seahawks</strong> record crowd of 65,536 in Husky Stadium. 9/25 Chris Warren earns AFC<br />

Offensive Player of the Week honors in a 30-13 win over the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers.<br />

Warren rushes for 125 yards and a touchdown, while the <strong>Seahawks</strong> defense intercepts four<br />

passes. 11/6 Cincinnati Bengals spoil <strong>Seahawks</strong> return to Kingdome with a 20-17 overtime<br />

win. Doug Pelfrey kicks six field goals, including a 26-yarder 8:14 into overtime for the win.<br />

11/20 Mack Strong’s seven-yard touchdown run with 42 seconds left gives <strong>Seahawks</strong> a 22-<br />

21 win over the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers, breaking a six-game losing streak. 11/27<br />

<strong>Seahawks</strong> defeat Kansas City 10-9 behind John Kasay’s 32-yard field goal with 1:42 left. The<br />

back-to-back one-point wins are a franchise first. Chris Warren surpasses the 1,000-yard<br />

mark in the 12th game, the earliest in team history. Curt Warner inducted into Ring of<br />

Honor. 12/11 Chris Warren rushes for a personal best 185 yards on 30 carries, including a<br />

touchdown in a 16-14 win at Houston. Warren, playing with cracked ribs, had 183 of his<br />

yards in the first three quarters. 12/18 Chris Warren tops 100 yards for the seventh time<br />

with 122, but the Los Angeles Raiders escape with a 17-16 Kingdome win. 12/24 Cleveland<br />

Browns defeat the <strong>Seahawks</strong> 35-9 in Cleveland Stadium, closing out a 6-10 season. Chris<br />

Warren finishes the season with a franchise record 1,545 rushing yards, a total that leads<br />

the AFC. 12/29 Tom Flores, <strong>Seahawks</strong> general manager/head coach from 1992-94, is<br />

relieved of his duties. Flores, who joined the organization in 1989 as president/general<br />

manager, compiled a 14-34 regular season record. All 12 of Flores’ assistants were also<br />

fired.<br />

1995 — 1/12 Dennis Erickson, head coach at the University of Miami, is named head coach. In<br />

six seasons at Miami, Erickson compiled a 63-9-0 record and won national championships<br />

in 1989 and 1991. A native of Everett, Washington, Erickson posted a 113-40-1 record in 13<br />

seasons as a college head coach at the University of Idaho, University of Wyoming,<br />

Washington State University, and Miami. Erickson brings six coaches with him from<br />

Miami, Gregg Smith (Assistant Head Coach/Tight Ends), Greg McMackin (Defensive<br />

Coordinator), Dave Arnold (Special Teams), Dana LeDuc (Strength and Conditioning), Rich<br />
