• The Administration FA may work closely with the<br />
recruitment team to know the number of workforce<br />
being recruited in the immediate future so that the seating<br />
arrangement may be planned accordingly.<br />
PRESS OPERATIONS<br />
The Press Operations FA was responsible for providing all<br />
the facilities and media services to accredited print journalists,<br />
photographers and non-right holders to ensure seamless<br />
functioning of the media operations during the <strong>Games</strong>.<br />
The Press Operations FA along with continued support from<br />
Press Information Bureau (PIB) created the services which was<br />
found not only at par with any such facility created the world<br />
over for such multi-discipline mega events but even surpassed<br />
them in creating a Main Press Centre (MPC) which has been<br />
rated as the best in the history of the <strong>Commonwealth</strong> <strong>Games</strong>.<br />
The following services were provided by the FA:<br />
• Venue Media Centres (VMCs): The VMCs became fully<br />
operational from 30 September 2010 with the exception of<br />
the Athletics Stadium located in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium<br />
cluster which became operational from 4 October due to<br />
the Opening Ceremony. VMCs were equipped with provision<br />
of work areas at competition venues, clusters of venues and<br />
the <strong>Games</strong> Village for the members of the Press.<br />
• Photo Services: Provision for accredited press<br />
photographers with work area “Photo positions” and<br />
telecommunication requirements.<br />
• Media Services: Facilities for accreditation, accommodation,<br />
transport, catering and Media Rate Card orders.<br />
• <strong>Games</strong> News Service: The OC CWG Delhi 2010, through<br />
the tender process, signed an agreement with a <strong>Games</strong><br />
News Service (GNS) provider, namely M/s. Infostrada<br />
Sports which provided:<br />
• Main Press Centre: Located centrally at Pragati Maidan, the<br />
MPC provided a central workplace for accredited print and<br />
photo journalists and non-rights holding broadcasters. Spread<br />
over 6,700 sq m of area, it was one of the largest media<br />
centres set up in the history of the <strong>Commonwealth</strong> <strong>Games</strong>.<br />
The MPC became fully operational (24x7) from 1 October<br />
2010 till 15 October 2010.<br />
