Responsible for:<br />
* MoI&B set up the centralised International Broadcast<br />
Centre (IBC) through Prasar Bharti, the Host<br />
Broadcaster of the <strong>Games</strong>, and set up and operated<br />
the Main Press Centre (MPC) through its agency, Press<br />
Information Bureau (PIB). For the first time in India,<br />
High Definition Television transmission was used to<br />
record sporting events.<br />

Territory of Delhi<br />
GNTCD was responsible for preparing Delhi’s civic<br />
infrastructure for the <strong>Games</strong> which was executed through<br />
government departments, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi<br />
(MCD) and the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC).<br />
Specifically it was responsible for:<br />
1. City infrastructure:<br />
* New flyovers, bridges and underpasses<br />
* Road widening<br />
* Strengthening and resurfacing roads<br />
* Street lighting<br />
* Street-scaping<br />
* Major roads and under bridges<br />
* Upgradation of public toilets<br />
* Augmentation of mass transport systems<br />
* Provision of easy access from the <strong>Games</strong> Village to all<br />
venues; construction of the elevated corridor over<br />
Barapullah Nallah<br />
* Restoration of Connaught Place<br />
* Redevelopment of Gole Market<br />
* Augmentation of drinking water and electricity supply<br />
* Secure communication system for services such as<br />
policing, etc.<br />
2. Construction of venues: GNTCD was responsible for the<br />
construction of one competition venue – the Thyagaraj<br />
Stadium for Netball – and two training venues. NDMC<br />
was responsible for constructing one competition venue<br />
(Talkatora Boxing Stadium) .<br />
3. Medical and health arrangements for Delhi 2010 in the<br />
form of a fully equipped polyclinic at the <strong>Games</strong> Village<br />
and basic medical attention centres at the venues. Three<br />
hospitals, that is, Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital, Dr. Ram<br />
Manohar Lohia Hospital, and All India Institute of Medical<br />
Sciences (Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre)<br />
had been designated as definitive care hospitals for the<br />
XIX <strong>Commonwealth</strong> <strong>Games</strong> 2010 Delhi where special<br />
arrangements were made. In addition, services of the<br />
Sports Injury Centre at the Safdarjung Hospital were<br />
appropriately utilised.<br />
