OC CWG Delhi 2010<br />
The OC CWG Delhi 2010 was tasked with the<br />
following objectives:<br />
• Deliver a successful and memorable <strong>Games</strong><br />
• Create a suitable environment and opportunities for<br />
the involvement of the citizens in the <strong>Games</strong><br />
• Showcase the culture and heritage of India<br />
• Leave behind a lasting legacy<br />
Its specific delivery objectives included:<br />
• The conduct of Queen’s Baton Relay<br />
• Ticketing and travel arrangements for sports<br />
delegations and technical officials of the participating<br />
countries<br />
• Protocol, boarding and lodging and intra-city<br />
movement logistics of participants<br />
• Management and operation of the <strong>Games</strong> Village<br />
• Planning and execution of the Opening and Closing<br />
Ceremonies<br />
• Installation of overlays at the venues<br />
• Management of venues<br />
• Catering at the <strong>Games</strong> Village and venues<br />
• Accreditation of participants, support personnel,<br />
security personnel and VIPs<br />
• Technical conduct of the <strong>Games</strong><br />
• Volunteer programme<br />
• Sponsorship and revenue generation<br />
• Sale of tickets<br />
• Provision of technical specifications for the design and<br />
construction of the competition and training venues<br />
• Publicity and media campaigns<br />
For operational efficiency and a clear demarcation of<br />
roles, a General Operational Plan (GOP) was created in<br />
August 2007. The GOP laid out the structural framework for<br />
the conduct of Delhi 2010 and also carried out a thorough<br />
analysis of the challenges that were likely to be encountered.<br />
The management and organisation structure of the OC<br />
CWG Delhi 2010 included:<br />
OC CWG Delhi 2010 General Body: The General<br />
Body, comprised 434 members from all walks of life. These<br />
members, all eminent personalities from their fields of<br />
expertise, assembled once a year to oversee the preparations<br />
for Delhi 2010.<br />
Executive Board: The 15-member Executive Board (EB)<br />
and four special invitees was the highest-decision making body<br />
for the conduct of Delhi 2010 and comprised the OC CWG<br />
