14-week basic food service training for homeless persons, in a transitional<br />

housing program (preferably), job placement assistance. Eligibility: 18 yrs +,<br />

available to attend class 8:30am to 4:00pm, 120 days drug free, able to lift 50 lbs,<br />

able to stand minimum 4 hrs. Training cycles are 4 times per year, Jan, April, July<br />

and Oct.<br />

Training in hospitality and maintenance workers recognizable in the downtown DC<br />

area by their bright red attire. Hospitality Division provides assistance with<br />

directions and information about various popular Washington, DC sites.<br />

Maintenance Division cleans streets and sidewalks and removes graffiti. Homeless<br />

outreach team assists homeless connect with services. Entry level salary with<br />

benefits. Application accepted throughout the year, training sessions begin in<br />

Year-long programs designed to help advance personal self-determination,<br />

citizenship, and leadership. Participants work on environmental projects affecting<br />

the Anacostia River. Must be able to participate Mon - Fri 8:30am to 4pm. Class<br />

cycles in January and June.<br />

incarcerated persons. Two week orientation, resume preparation, dress-for-success,<br />

abuse referrals, NA/AA. Skills training programs, basic computer training,<br />

independent living Tues, Thurs 9am to 8pm. Must provide current ID, SS card,<br />

current TB test results.<br />
